Brother HL-2230 Printer Driver Download

Brother HL-2230 Printer Drivers. The printer has been serving me for about a month. Brother HL-2230 shows no weaknesses, does what he should. He sinks - when not in use - immediately in deep sleep and takes - it is commissioned - after a few seconds (in the default setting) his work on. The frequently mentioned imprints of pinch rollers on the printed paper did not occur to me.

It runs with me under different operating systems, beside Windows XP and Windows 7 under Fedora and Linux Mint (here in each case the 64-Bit-Version). I did not use the supplied CD, I have the drivers brother offers in the "Brother Solutions Center: Germany" (address: welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/Public/CountryTop.aspx?reg=eu&c=en&lang=en ), used.

Under Windows, the installation is typical, it has the effort after installation to remove the unwanted components (!), As far as the user is allowed ...

For installation under linux are the 32-bit printer driver "LPR driver" and the "cupswrapper driver" found at "welcome.solutions.brother.com/bsc/public_s/id/linux/en/download_prn.html#HL-2250DN" (also on the 64-bit version) of the operating system).

In order for the 32-bit drivers to work, you need to install the respective operating system switch package between the 64-bit operating system and the 32-bit drivers (ia32-libs or lib32stdc ++ for Mint, glibc.i686 for Fedora).

Brother HL-2230 driver Installation:
the "LPR driver" and the "cupswrapper driver" are downloaded and stored eg in the directory / home / <username> / Downloads. Then the installation takes place.

In the terminal this works as follows:

Mint:
sudo apt-get install -y ia32-libs
...
cd / home / <username> / downloads
sudo dpkg -i hl2250dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.deb cupswrapperHL2250DN-2.0. 4-2.i386.deb

Fedora as su:
yum install -y glibc.i686
...
cd / home / <username> / Downloads
yum localinstall hl2250dnlpr-2.1.0-1.i386.rpm cupswrapperHL2250DN-2.0.4-2 .i386.rpm

If the installation was successful, the printer is in the printer configuration with the device URI for the USB port, eg "usb: / dev / usb / lp0". If you want to use the printer as a network printer, change this device URI to "lpd: // <network address of the printer> / <name of the queue>".
The network address of the printer is either fixed in the printer or it can be found in the table of your own router, the <name of the queue> is in my case "BINARY_P1".

The print option for Duplex is often set to "none" in the default state. If you want to use the duplex option, the "DuplexNoTrumble" setting is recommended.

It may be that the drivers on the brother Internet site have been replaced by newer ones. If the software artists from Amazon have not re-censored the addresses for the driver sources, you should be able to install them with up-to-date drivers without a long search.
